Rockport has long been known for its beautiful and protected harbor, traditional village homes, miles of stunning shore-frontage and community of artists and musicians. Perched on Amsbury and Diamond Hills overlooking the harbor, many historic houses have been rebuilt and restored to afford views of the village and harbor.

During the 1930’s, Mary Louise Curtis Bok chose Rockport as the summer home of her world class music conservatory, the Philadelphia-based Curtis Institute of Music. For the last 50 years, Bay Chamber Concerts has carried on the community tradition she started with a world-class year-round music series and their newly expanded young musicians program. Musical events are performed at the historic Rockport Opera House. The owners of Brewster Point’s vision for the future has been at the heart of the renaissance of Rockport village with the restoration of the Shepherd Block, home to Bay Chamber Concerts, the offices of Maine Media College and Shepherd’s Pie, one of the area’s award winning hip new restaurants.

Maine MediaWorkshops and College, (formerly called Maine Photographic Workshops) began in the 1970’s as the country’s foremost photo and video learning center. Immediately “the workshops” became a leader in the photo, film and multimedia community drawing people from around the world. The school offers classes for residents, amateurs and professionals with the area as a backdrop for classes.

Aldemere Farm is a 136 acre farm owned and operated by the Maine Coast Heritage Trust and is a well-loved landmark of the community. The farm is one of the world's premier breeders of Belted Galloway cattle and operates as an educational center to expand the appreciation for sustainable farming and land conservation. The farm is a short distance from the center of the village and begins what is a breathtaking walk around Beauchamp Point and through some beautiful sections of Rockport Village.

With less than 3500 year-round residents, Rockport has a wonderful harbor park, welcoming library and the Maine Center for Contemporary Art. A short distance from the center of town is the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, a internationally recognized non-profit school founded in 1993 to provide weekly workshops and intensive studies on all aspects of woodworking.

Rockport is, and always has been a destination for people of all ages looking for a true sense of community.
