Maine is a perfect antidote to pretension.
If you prefer a “see and be seen”
type of social life, then perhaps The Hamptons or even The Vineyard or
Nantucket might better serve your east coast summer house needs. Here we
trudge about in our old Wellies and barn jackets never worrying for a
moment we’ll be spotted. So few people live in Maine to begin with, and those
who do could generally care less. If you’re one of the rare souls who finds living
